Glass Balustrading – Frameless Elegance, Certified Safety

NSG supplies and installs glass balustrading systems for both internal and external applications, combining safety, structural integrity, and modern design. Whether you’re upgrading a staircase or securing a rooftop terrace, our tested systems deliver a clean, frameless finish without compromising on performance.

Internal Glass Balustrading

We offer two main frameless systems for internal use:

 Bolt-On Glass Panels

  • Glass panels are face-fixed to the side of the stair stringer or landing using stainless steel standoff bolts.
  • Ideal for retrofits or minimalist designs where floor space is limited.
  • Clean, floating appearance with no visible base track.

 Base Track System

  • Glass panels are secured into a continuous aluminium base track fixed to the floor.
  • Offers a sleek, uninterrupted line of glass.
  • Requires M10 or M12 fixings into concrete or steel substrates only.
  • Not suitable for timber floors without structural reinforcement.

Traditional Infill Panels

  • Glass panels are installed between timber newel posts and handrails.
  • Fixed using wooden beading or stainless steel glass clamps.
  • Typically uses 10mm toughened glass.
  • A popular choice for domestic staircases and landings where a classic look is preferred.

External Glass Balustrading

All external balustrading installations are frameless systems, designed to withstand weather and wind loads while maintaining a modern aesthetic.

Key Features:

  • Always installed using toughened laminated glass for safety and compliance.
  • No handrail is fitted on top of the glass – maintaining a clean, open view.
  • Panel connectors are used between glass panes to provide additional lateral support.
  • Suitable for:
    • Roof edges
    • Patios and balconies
    • Parapet walls
    • Any area with a drop requiring fall protection

 Important Note:

  • The base track system is only certified for use with concrete or steel substrates.
  • External installations must not use traditional timber-based methods.
